Daniel Castro

Born in New York and raised in California and Chile has given Dr. Castro the ability to adapt to multiple cultures. Completing his undergraduate study at California State University, Northridge with a double bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry. His medical education was at Loma Linda University, continuing his residency program specializing in Internal Medicine. Once this program was completed, he became Chief Resident and then joined the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine faculty. This is where he developed his passion for teaching and working with students and residents. 

 

Dr. Castro held multiple leadership roles over the years, both in his Church as well as his professional career. For many years, he served as co-host of a Spanish radio show on health-related topics in Southern California. He and his wife are very involved locally with Church and teaching health seminars and cooking classes for the community. Highlights of his professional roles include Chief of General Internal Medicine at Loma Linda Veterans Administration Medical Center, working as overseer for the physicians in the clinics and hospital settings. Most recently, the Lead Medical Officer for the Morristown Veterans Administration Clinic and is now transitioning as Medical Director for US Diabetes Care.

 

Over the last several years, Dr. Castro has developed a growing interest in diet, lifestyle, and health outcomes. He completed Board Certifications in Lifestyle Medicine in 2019 to complement his Board Certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He wishes to integrate his Internal Medicine skills with Lifestyle Medicine with those patents that desire to work towards better health by making wise lifestyle choices. 

 

Dr. Castro, his wife, and their children enjoy spending time outdoors in the garden, on his farm, hiking, traveling, and camping.

Haley attended UT Knoxville for her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.  Following graduation, she worked with middle schoolers before going back to pursue a career in medicine.  She attended PA school at Lincoln Memorial University.

Since graduating PA school Haley has worked in Primary Care treating all patients newborn to geriatrics.  Haley brings a special quality to our Primary Care practice allowing patients and their families to have the opportunity to see the same provider throughout their entire life span.

Haley enjoys the diversity that Primary Care has to offer and the ability to build strong relationships with her patients.

In addition to Primary Care, Haley performs surgical procedures in the office, minor emergency procedures including sutures.  This will avoid unnecessary ER visits for her patients.

​

Haley has a small dog named Olive, who constantly keeps her on her toes.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching UT football, cooking, reading and staying physically active.  Haley enjoys serving her patients as well as others and has been on several mission trips domestically and abroad.

Mike has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner since graduating from the University of Tennessee with a master’s degree in nursing in 1994. He has spent the last 17 of those years treating patients here in Hamblen County.  

 

Mike brings a special quality to our primary care practice by treating all patients, newborn to geriatric. This allows patients and their families to have the opportunity to see the same provider throughout their entire life span. 

 

Mike is a retired Military officer who is proud to see all military veterans and their families. He accepts all forms of Tricare as well as most insurances.

 

In addition to Primary care, Mike also performs DOT physicals, surgical procedures in the office, and minor emergency procedures. This will avoid unnecessary ER visits for his patients. 

 

He and his wife, Debbie, live on the beautiful Holston River. He enjoys spending as much time on it as he can flyfishing and kayaking.
